Diab Elected to CRA Board
LTI Director Mona Diab named to Computing Research Association's Board of Directors
Mona Diab, a professor and director of the Language Technologies Institute in Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science, has been elected to the Computing Research Association’s (CRA) board of directors.
The nonprofit CRA aims to drive computing research by collaborating with industry, government and academia to promote a diverse, inclusive and socially responsible computing research community. The CRA board of directors plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the organization, guiding and giving back to the community. The board advances CRA's mission, driving strategic initiatives and strengthening the computing research ecosystem. As the organization navigates technological advancements and shifting federal priorities, the board's leadership is more important than ever.
Diab is a leader in natural language processing, responsible AI and multilingual computing, and has made significant contributions to computational approaches for code-switching and semantic textual similarity. An Association for Computational Linguistics fellow and recipient of the Arabic Language Technologies King Salman Prize, she has held leadership positions in academia and industry, including roles with Amazon Web Services and Meta, and serves on global committees focused on AI ethics and safety.
