John Friday

Assistant Director, Academic Operations, Language Technologies Institute

John Friday serves as the LTI's Assistant Director for Academic Operations. In this role, he leads key functions across faculty hiring, review, promotion, and tenure processes, while also supervising the academic program team and supporting departmental policy and strategic planning. Additionally, he plays an integral role in organizing faculty and staff events that contribute to the vibrancy of the LTI community.

A native of Highland Park in Pittsburgh, John holds a B.A. in Spanish and Philosophy, an M.A. in Theology, and a Ph.D. in Theology and Religious Studies from KU Leuven in Belgium. Prior to joining LTI, he completed postdoctoral research at KU Leuven and held positions at Whole Foods Market and in the School of Computer Science Dean’s Office.

Outside of work, John enjoys cycling and spending quality time with his dog, Theo.
